Take Time to Pray
Psalm 62:1-2
1 My soul finds rest in God alone,
my salvation comes from Him.
2 He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Examine
3 When I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
4 In God, whose Word I praise,
in God I trust; I will not be afraid.
What can mortal man do to me?
10 In God, whose Word I praise,
in the Lord, whose Word I praise -
11 in God I trust; i will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
Notice
God
God is to be praised above all else.
God is our Savior.
God is our protection.
God is trustworthy.
God is powerful.
God's Word is trustworthy.
God's Word is powerful.
Lesson
These words must be pretty important to be repeated almost word for word twice in one Psalm.
It may seem like man can hurt us here on earth, but he cannot separate us from God or our eventual Heavenly home.
When this world seems to be too much to bear, we must fix our eyes on Jesus and our Heavenly home.
We find our knowledge of God and Heaven in God's Word and this knowledge helps us to fix our eyes on Heaven.
Do
Question
How do I keep my eyes focused on God and Heaven today - a busy day that threatens my peace of mind?
Response
Accept that I may not get as much done as I would like to get done.
Give myself grace as God gives me grace.
Keep Psalm 61:1-2 in my sight today.
Thank you for this. This has been my theme for life as of late. Learning to trust in God first. When I do this the peace I feel is overwhelming. Wish I had learned this years ago. But I know that God is happy I am here now. Working on not losing this focus and not letting things pull me away from trusting Him.
